A major new wind farm site has been awarded to Eneco west of the Isle of Wight 9 miles off the south Dorset coast. The £3Bn project will consist of up 230 large turbines and generate electricity for over 800,000 homes in Dorset.
Work is scheduled to start in 2016 and is expected to take 3 years. The government is committed to producing 15% of the UK’s energy requirement from renewable sources by 2020.
