Shipping firm fined for dumped palm oil into the Solent

A SHIPPING firm has been found guilty of polluting Hayling Island beach.

Pretty Time Shipping was today found to have illegally discharged palm oil into the sea, causing a major chemical alert in Hayling Island, and East and West Wittering, when waxy yellow lumps washed up onto the shore in January.

The company were given a £25,000 fine and ordered to pay £75,000 costs.
